The highest volume liquor store chain in North Texas began in Dallas when Joe Jansen purchased Goo Goo Liquors in 1964. At the time, the store, located on Lower Greenville Avenue, was a meager 15-by-50 feet wide. To save $600 on new signage, Jansen was able to change the name of the store by simply adding “dy” to the original name. Over the past five decades, Goody Goody has established an excellent reputation based on grand selection, low pricing, and old-fashioned customer service. In fact, by the time Goody Goody opened its second location in 1974, it was noted as the largest liquor store in the state. “We don’t serve the public to make a profit, we make a profit because we serve the public,” says Jansen. “That philosophy still holds true today as we place an emphasis on helping our customers select the right product.” The focus on customer service has remained critical to the chain’s success. With 21 stores across Dallas-Fort Worth, Longview, and Houston, every associate is trained on core pillars that continue to set Goody Goody apart in a competitive environment. When it comes to selection, Goody Goody has it all. With more than 8,200 wines from around the world; 1,600 domestic, foreign, and craft beers; and 5,900 spirits; you’re almost certain to find whatever you’re searching for.
