What Is Go-Ahead Ireland?
Go-Ahead Ireland (GAI) is the capital's newest bus company. Operating from a recently refitted bus depot in Ballymount, Dublin 12, the company has 250 colleagues (175 are bus drivers) and a fleet of 125 buses, all driving under the new Transport for Ireland livery. In 2017, the National Transport Authority awarded Go-Ahead Ireland the tender to operate 10% of the Outer Dublin Metropolitan Area (ODMA) bus routes. In July 2018 the company officially opened its depot and at the beginning of September, it introduced the first route, the 175 which runs between UCD and Citywest. Some weeks later the 45A, 59, 63 & 75 came under their umbrella and the remaining routes will transition over the coming months, and into 2019. Also in 2017, the NTA awarded 6 commuter routes to GAI and it is expected to take over these in 2019. Go-Ahead Ireland puts people and the community at the heart of their company, connecting people to places in a friendly and professional manner. They are a part of The Go-Ahead Group, a global transport provider of bus and rail. Check out www.goaheadireland.ie for details as well as @goaheadireland and Facebook/GoAheadIreland.
