What Is Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road?

As the preeminent leadership development organization for girls, Girl Scouts of Kentucky's Wilderness Road offers experiential opportunities that prepare Girls for a lifetime of leadership, adventure, and success. Girls are encouraged to explore their passions and cultivate change as they learn to empower themselves through creativity, excellence and individuality. GSKWR focuses on four primary pillars –– STEM, Outdoor Adventure, Life Skills and Entrepreneurship. From Kindergarten through High School, Girls have opportunities to engage in rigorous programming that challenges and equips them, culminating with the opportunity to pursue their Gold Award –– the highest achievement in Girl Scouting. Engineering green technology, fighting racism in education, saving coral reefs, meeting the needs of the deaf community and combatting the STEM gender gap, are all examples of what Girls have accomplished through their Gold Award projects. Headquartered in Lexington, KY, with over 8,500 girl members, GSKWR serves 66 counties in Northeast and Central Kentucky and 1 Ohio County. The Council has 3,000 committed volunteers and 40 employees. GSKWR is largely reliant on strategic business partnerships and individual giving for its ongoing success. The council offers donors and corporate partners customized opportunities that prioritize impact, ultimately helping girls uncover their full potential.
