What Is Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida?

Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. offers the area’s premier leadership experience for girls. Our mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. The council has a membership of nearly 6,500 girls in grades K-12, with support from 3,000+ adult volunteers. Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida, Inc. is chartered by Girl Scouts of the USA and serves girls in ten counties including Manatee, Hardee, Highlands, Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte, Glades, Lee, Hendry, and Collier. We are the largest organization dedicated solely to girls—all girls—where, in a diverse, inclusive, accepting, and nurturing environment, girls build skills for success in the real world. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like leadership, strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own potential and self-worth. Girl Scouts embraces girls of all abilities, backgrounds, and heritage, with a specific and positive philosophy of inclusion. Each girl—without regard to socioeconomic status, race, physical or cognitive ability, ethnicity, primary language, or religion—is an equal and valued member of Girl Scouts. Founded in 1912 by Juliette Gordon Low, Girl Scouts' membership has grown from 18 members in Savannah, Georgia, to 2.7 million members throughout the United States, including U.S. territories, and in more than 90 countries through USA Girl Scouts Overseas.
