When Roger, Tom's son, worked on the farm he realised the family could not continue to grow cereal without securing an effective market; something had to be done if the farm was to retain the 5 employees. \r\n\r\nIn 1992 Roger purchased a tractor driven extruder and began to process wheat grown on the farm.\r\n\r\nIn 1995 GA purchased their first X165 wet extruder from Wenger Inc., and in subsequent years purchased many more extruders from the USA company. GA currently have the only Wenger Thermal Twin 3630 extruder in the world (commissioned in 2012).\r\n\r\n2011 saw the move of finished product warehousing and distribution to a 200,000sq.ft fully automated distribution centre in Chorley which operates 24/7.\r\n\r\nA state of the art Microbiological Laboratory was opened on-site in 2014 which tests against Salmonella, Ecoli and Campylobacter.\r\n\r\nA huge landmark for GA in 2014 was the development and launch of Freshtrusionâ„¢ this innovation gives GA the ability to manufacture pet food with up to 80% fresh meat, a level that no other producer can achieve. \r\n\r\nIn 2015 GA took delivery of an optical sorter to visually inspect kibbles using 3 lasers and a high resolution camera to further improve our quality control measures.
