G.R. Birdwell Construction, LP (BIRDWELL) is a full service industrial and general contractor founded in 1977 by Gene R. Birdwell. Over the years we have grown from five employees to over 150 employees. BIRDWELL spent its early years constructing industrial and municipal wastewater treatment plants. By 1985, ninety percent of BIRDWELL's work was for the Petrochemical Industry in the Gulf Coast. To meet existing clients needs generated by ever increasing environmental regulations, BIRDWELL founded Remedial Construction Services, LP (RECON) in 1989. While the two companies are completely separate entities, they share common resources to assure clients that construction trades with a long history to complete all projects safely and professionally. BIRDWELL and RECON have completed over 3,100 construction, geotechnical, mechanical, remediation, hazardous waste management and environmental projects for numerous industrial, commercial and government clients. Our client base includes most major petrochemical companies in the Gulf Coast, and numerous Local, State and Federal Government Agencies. For these clients BIRDWELL have completed projects in complexity from simple foundation design, construction, project management, procurement and startup of entire production facilities. By maintaining an Experience Modifier of less than one (1), and treating both safety and quality with our utmost concern, we feel our Safety Record is a contribution in itself. Most of our competitors experience cycles that require them to layoff their field crews during down turns in the industry. Birdwell has never experienced such a layoff. This is the result of a continuous push for growth, and a unique relationship with RECON, that allows our crews to complete other projects during slow periods in our industry. Our staff of project managers has an average of 20 years experience in Industrial and Commercial construction. These project managers supervise all phases of a project, assuring our clients an expedient and cost effective solution. Our equipment inventory includes over 65 pieces of heavy equipment including dozers, backhoes, trackhoes and cranes. Our employees have over 70 licenses, registrations and certifications ranging from Professional Engineer to Hazardous Materials Technician. This broad range of personnel and equipment allows Birdwell to function as a full-service general contractor or as a specialty subcontractor.
