Frieda's is also the first wholesale produce company in the U.S. to be founded, owned, and operated by a woman -- and remains a family-owned and operated business today. Frieda Caplan is founder and Chairman of the Board, while her daughters Karen and Jackie serve as President/CEO and Vice President, respectively. As a fitting tribute to exotic produce, Frieda's recently launched an innovative new cookbook entitled 'The Purple Kiwi Cookbook' authored by President Karen Caplan. A collection of delicious recipes featuring some of the world's most unusual produce, this innovative cookbook earned the Benjamin Franklin Award from the Publishers Marketing Association. Based in Los Alamitos, California, Frieda's now has more than 125 employees and maintains an 85,000-square-foot warehouse for supplying retailers and food service distributors throughout the U.S. and Canada. Today, as in the past, we'll continue operations built on the philosophy of 100% customer satisfaction and service. We'll continue our quest for new fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes and other unique foods from around the world.
