What Is Freelance; self employed Asian Artist?

DANCE-DRAMA means storytelling through expressive physical, dance, gesture, movements and facial expression. As a British Asian contemporary Artist with a BA (Hon) Theatre from Dartington College of Arts, I have been influenced greatly by Western and Eastern theatre and contemporary practitioners such as Jerzy Grotowski, Peter Brook and Antonin Artaud. I teach children and adults from different ethnic backgrounds, faiths and religions. It is important that people respect and understand other cultures and be able to feel free to explore. When working on projects and productions I infuse Indian, Sri Lankan and Pakistani cultural techniques to Western Contemporary art forms. I went to Sri Lanka for a year to undertake research. Whilst there, I taught children in Rahula school, contemporary theatre and infused Eastern dance techniques from their own cultural heritage. I also trained in Sri Lankan Kandayan, folk dance, Indian Kathak by Prema Kapuge, a well known dance practitioner.
