Franklin County Home Care Corporation (FCHCC) is a private, non-profit corporation established in July, 1974, which develops, provides, and coordinates a range of home care services designed to support and maintain the independent living of elders within the community. In some of our programs we are able to serve adults with disabilities. Services and supports are also provided to families and friends caring for loved ones. As one of 27 Home Care Corporations in the Commonwealth, the Agency's primary goal is to assist elders and others in securing and maintaining maximum independence in their home or in the community. The Corporation has also been designated as one of 23 Area Agencies on Aging within the state and 660 such agencies across the country. FCHCC is the Home Care Corporation and Area Agency on Aging for all 26 towns of Franklin County and the four Worcester County Towns of Athol, Petersham, Phillipston, and Royalston. The agency exists to improve the quality of life for elders who reside within its 30-town planning and service area, and to assist them in securing maximum independence and the free exercise of individual initiative in the planning and management of their own lives. As a Home Care Corporation, FCHCC is responsible for a variety of in-home services to frail elders through care management and other program options. Under the federal Older Americans Act, FCHCC, as an Area Agency on Aging, is responsible for the development of a comprehensive, coordinated system of services and benefits for all elders. It also serves as the advocate and focal point for elders in the 30 communities served by the agency. FCHCC works closely with social and home health agencies in the community to identify gaps in services and to develop the capacity to provide needed programs and services to elders and others who reside in the service area. Some of these services (care management, nutrition programs, information and referral services, and older worker employment programs) are provided directly by FCHCC. Other services (in-home services, out-of-county transportation, legal services, home sharing, and peer counseling) are provided by agencies in the community under contracts and grants awarded by FCHCC, with funding that comes primarily from the state Executive Office of Elder Affairs.
