What Is Fastenal Company?

Fastenal was founded in 1967 in Winona, MN by company Chairman, Bob Kierlin. From this beginning, Fastenal has expanded to become the fastest growing full-line industrial distributor, and is the largest fastener distributor in the nation. Our service-oriented business network currently includes an in-house Manufacturing Division, a product Quality Assurance and Engineering Department, a strategic system of 12 Distribution Centers in the U.S., a fleet of over 275 company-owned semi-trucks and trailers and over 1300 Store sites. Fastenal Company is engaged in the wholesale distribution of industrial and construction supplies. As of December 31, 2003, it operated 1,314 store sites located in 50 states, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico and Singapore. In addition to the stores, Fastenal also operates in-plant sites. An in-plant site is a selling unit located in or near a customer\'s facility that sells product solely to that customer. The Company sells approximately 448,000 different types of industrial and construction supplies in 10 product categories
