What Is Family Support Services?

Our mission is to nurture children, youth and caregivers to keep families healthy and intact. We provide support to families experiencing a variety of trauma. Some of these families are made up of grandparents suddenly caring for young children, parents caring for children with disabilities, and homeless families. Through our programs we are able to support many of these families in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco Counties. Our programs are: Respite Care Program - specialized care for children designed to give parents and other caregivers a break from the daily demands of caring for their children. Family Preservation Program - home-based, intensive case-management for families experiencing stressors which have been shown to increase the likelihood of child abuse or neglect. Growing Up Strong - works with families with children who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges at home or at school, or who have experienced trauma as the result of family or community violence. Kinship Support Services Program - provides an array of services for kinship caregivers, including crisis intervention, support group, workshops and training, and assistance with legal guardianship. Kinship Youth Program - serves children and youth ages 6-18 who are being raised by a kinship caregiver: a grandparent, aunt, sibling, or other relative caregiver.
