What Is Ember Lab?

Ember Lab is an independent game development studio currently developing their first title, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Ember Lab was founded in 2009 by brothers Josh and Mike Grier as an animation and digital content studio. Their goal was to create immersive stories through technical innovation, compelling characters, and cinematic worlds. The team has a background in film and animation and the studio originally specialized in character development for advertising. Ember Lab's commercial work includes ad campaigns and animated shorts for The Coca-Cola Company, Hisense, and Major League Baseball. The company's culture is based on a highly collaborative environment that melds the creative and production processes. In the studio, the lines between technical and artistic development tend to disappear as teams focus on delivering fantastic and innovative experiences that match their passion. The team thrives on opportunities that push the limits of their ability and allows them to explore new development tools. This cooperative environment gives them the flexibility to take on highly complex projects. Ember Lab is a small team that thinks and collaborates globally. The studio has a history of fostering talent locally and abroad. Over fifty percent of the Ember Lab core team are graduates of the nearby Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Lead character artist, Wanchana Intrasombat (Vic) based in Thailand, has become a world-renowned concept artist since beginning his professional career with Ember Lab. Ember Lab produced the award-winning short film, Dust, and the acclaimed Majora's Mask fan film, Terrible Fate. The success of their commercial and independent projects led them to develop their passion project and first game, Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Recently showcased during the PS5 The Future of Gaming event, Kena: Bridge of Spirits will release exclusively on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and the Epic Games Store
