What Is Easterseals RISE?

RISE, INC. is a non-profit sheltered workshop and rehabilitation facility that was founded in 1965. First named the Community Sheltered Workshop of Steuben County, we served post-school age individuals with disabilities. Enrollment the first year was six adults with mental retardation. The workshop was located in one room in the basement of Pleasant Lake School in Pleasant Lake, IN. Now located in our current 29,000 sq ft facility which was designed and built specifically to comply with ADA regulations, RISE currently serves over 200 clients. Services provided are Adult Day Activity, Habilitation Training, Facility Based Employment, Transportation Services and Community Employment Services including one-on-one job coaching. Most clients utilize multiple programs offered through RISE to obtain maximum skill in both daily living and employment. Since the inception of the program in 1965 many changes have taken place. One thing has not changed, however, and that is the basic philosophy upon which the Agency was founded; to rehabilitate individuals with disabilities to their fullest potential, becoming self-sufficient and independent.
