When Dexter Axle was founded by Leonard Dexter in 1960, the company was predominantly focused on equally serving the manufactured housing and recreational vehicle industries. As the manufactured housing industry evolved and manufacturers began predominantly using recycled axles as opposed to new axles, Dexter recognized the need to expand the product offering and the markets the company served. These markets included the industrial utility, cargo, horse and livestock, and Dexter also expanded its product offering to further accommodate the growing needs of the RV market
