What Is Detroit Transportation Corporation?
The Detroit Transportation Corporation (DTC), a Michigan Public Body Corporate, owns and operates the Detroit People Mover. The Detroit People Mover (DPM) was funded and built as part of a federal demonstration project designed to revitalize older, urban cities. The automated guideway system was intended to serve as part of an overall, regional transportation plan and a feeder system for five light rail lines. As a public transit system, it generates approximately 5,000 riders daily for routine business; various attractions, conventions, special and sporting events downtown can increase trips upward of 12-25,000 per day.
