What Is Department of Science Information Technology and Innovation?

The Department of Science, Information Technology and Innovation (DSITI) brings together science, innovation and information technology into one portfolio to enable a clever, creative and connected Queensland and deliver on the strategic priorities of the Queensland Government. The Queensland Government Chief Information Office (QGCIO) and The Office of the Chief Scientist are also part of DSITI. The portfolio also includes statutory body, the State Library of Queensland and the Queensland State Archives. DSITI is also responsible for delivering key programs that are part of the Advance Queensland initiative, a comprehensive suite of programs, based on international evidence of ‘what works’, and is designed to create the knowledge-based jobs of the future, drive productivity improvements and build on our natural advantages. Advance Queensland will also help position the state as an attractive investment destination with a strong innovation and entrepreneurial culture. It is our job to work closely with all other agencies to drive the government's priorities in research, science, innovation, technology, intellectual property and service delivery. Leeanne Enoch became the Minister for Innovation, Science and the Digital Economy and the Minister for Small Business on 8 December 2015.
