What Is Deer Park Independent School District?

Hello, and welcome to Deer Park Independent School District's home on the Internet. Please take some time to view the various sections of this website, which is not unlike our schools in that it continues to grow, change and improve. I hope that you'll come back to visit often. Deer Park is located about 20 miles southeast of downtown Houston, and we like to think we have something very special here. Our district encompasses most of the City of Deer Park as well as parts of the cities of Pasadena and Baytown. We have a proven instructional program, sound financial operations, and, above all, two-way communication between the district and our parents, students, and community. Though we incorporate technology and the latest educational research into our instructional programs, we work hard to maintain an old-fashioned commitment to helping each and every student succeed at his or her level. We have a great relationship with our parents and community, and we appreciate their support of our schools as friends and school volunteers. We're also fortunate to have the participation of our business and industrial neighbors, who frequently provide additional funds for programs and scholarships. More importantly, these professionals share their time with us as well, working as student mentors, tutors and district volunteers. If you're a parent, student, or community member, you'll find a wealth of information here that should meet your needs. If you are thinking of relocating to our area and are interested in enrolling your child in our schools or becoming an employee of our district, you'll probably take special interest in the "Public Information" contained on our website. Simply roll your cursor over the maroon menu bar on the left side of your screen, and a variety of choices will appear. These areas contain a great deal of general information about our instructional program and other important issues. If you have time, I'd also recommend a visit to our campus websites. Each school has its own personality, and I think you'll see this reflected in the respective school websites. I am a graduate of our high school, a former classroom teacher and a former campus administrator, so I've been a part of Deer Park schools for most of my life. As a student, I probably took for granted the education I received from outstanding teachers like Leon Wolters, Frank Semmelmann and Judy Kellow. As a district employee, I understand that most students today probably don't realize how truly lucky and blessed they are to have the exemplary teachers, support staff, and administrators who work so tirelessly to provide a safe, supportive, and creative learning environment. Whether they know it or not, in Deer Park, we work hard to prepare today's students for tomorrow's challenges. On behalf of our Board of Trustees and staff, I'd like to thank you for visiting our website and encourage you to visit one of our 14 outstanding schools. If there's anything I can do to make your visit a better experience, please let me know.
