What Is Crystal Stairs?
Crystal Stairs, Inc. is one of the largest private, nonprofit child development corporations in the State of California. It was incorporated to provide service, research and advocacy in the fields of child care and development, maternal employment, and family functioning. Founded in 1980 by Drs. Karen Hill-Scott and Alice Walker Duff, Crystal Stairs administers several government-funded programs. Special projects are also sponsored by private grants and donations. Our purpose in all activities is to promote healthy, enriching lives for children and their families. As a service agency, Crystal Stairs is unique in its merger of direct child care service with research and advocacy. The staff of Crystal Stairs is professional, multi-ethnic, bilingual and capable, possessing many years of experience in child care and related fields.
