In addition to assisting clients with the acquisition and disposition of assets, Crawford Hoying and its affiliates manage approximately nine million square feet of multifamily and commercial properties. We also offer a full range of construction, insurance and risk management services. Our Company began in 1993 when Brent Crawford, an Ohio State University undergrad at the time, decided to borrow $1,500 from his girlfriend's grandmother in order to purchase his first house on campus. He rented the house to his friends while he stayed there rent free. This concept appealed to Brent and he purchased another house on campus three months later. Brent's passion for acquisitions and property management grew, and by the time he graduated from Ohio State he owned 30 units which consisted of single family homes and duplexes. These campus properties were extremely management intense. In 1998, Brent decided to sell the homes and purchase 5 sixteen-unit buildings at Pine Lake/Saddlebrook Apartments. It was at this time that Brent met Bob Hoying and a budding friendship ensued. Brent and Bob had plenty in common. They graduated from The Ohio State University in 1995, grew up in small towns in Ohio, and had a passion for real estate. While Brent was making a name for himself through Crawford Communities, Bob was in the middle of a 7-year career in the National Football League as quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders. Their mutual admiration for one another gave way to a partnership and the birth of Crawford Hoying. "We complement each other very well. I tend to look at the big picture while Bob is more detail oriented, which allows us to make sure that we are growing in a disciplined fashion," states Brent. Since 1999, Crawford Hoying has grown from 1 apartment community with less than 5 employees to over 25 communities with more than 200 employees. This growth could not have occurred without our dedicated employees, investors, clients, families and friends. We are well positioned for the future and look forward to continued growth.
