What Is Cooperative of American Physicians?

We also perform a yearly analysis of the MPT Agreement to remain confident that MPT provides the coverage that each Member needs but avoids the exposures that can negatively impact the organization as a whole. In 2004, you once again responded to our call to carefully evaluate and to vote on important revisions to the MPT Agreement. Just as national and state politics go through constant change, CAP-MPT must create new strategies to teach new and upcoming elected officials the importance of preserving the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act. In 2004, your physician colleagues on the state and federal political action committees evaluated which candidates best understood the connection between California,s MICRA , and a proposed federal version , and patients, access to care. The funds that you contributed to these committees made a decisive difference in a number of key races - both in California and in important U.S. Senate contests elsewhere. Integral to our commitment to keep CAP-MPT fresh is the Fellows Program, now in its third year. In 2004, five of your physician colleagues who have shown particular commitment to the organization had the opportunity to confirm their potential for further service by visiting standing committees and both the CAP and MPT boards. These are just a few of the activities that show our organization is committed to remaining vibrant for the next generation of physicians who will call CAP-MPT their preferred provider.
