What Is Coniston?

Coniston, formed over thirty-five years ago, is a debt free and profitable company operating as traditional construction, refurbishment and conservation contractor with an annual turnover of £40m. Working mainly within London and the South East we carry out projects from a few thousand pounds up to £10m in value. \n\nWe work within both the public and private sectors carrying out projects in a diverse market. Our portfolio includes but is not limited to heritage, commercial, education, residential and community work.\n\nWe are proud of an 80% repeat business rate, testament we believe to our commitment to quality workmanship and the highest standards of customer service. \n\nConiston was founded in 1979, becoming a Limited company in 1982. We are still owned by one of the founding partners, John Rathbone, who works full-time with the company overseeing all construction projects that we undertake. We operate from a Head Office in Dartford with a satellite office at The British Museum. \n\nConiston operate with a directly employed workforce of management, administration staff and skilled operatives, with each project being allocated a Contract Management Team from inception to completion.\nConiston proudly manage an in house apprenticeship scheme, employing four apprentices at any one time.\nRetention of trading profits and prudent investment means that the company fund all projects from it’s own financial resources.
