Comrad, formerly operating under the name of Software Innovations, was founded in 1987 by Andrew Scott to supply information systems for the medical market. Since then, Comrad has evolved with a focus specifically on providing software products exclusively for the radiology market. In 2002, the name of Software Innovations was changed to Comrad to bring the name of the company in line with its main product called COMRAD. Comrad grew steadily throughout the 1990’s but in 2005 a number of events came together to accelerate the growth of Comrad. These included: - Release of COMRAD 2 — a significantly enhanced RIS product - Introduction of a major new shareholder — the Savage Group - Establishment of a Board of Directors with an independent Chairman, Mark Bowman - Expansion of Comrad sales into Australia With further success the business was soon growing faster. In 2012 the inaugural Australian CEO Elizabeth Delahunty joined with the aim to strengthen the trans-Tasman presence with a significant presence of customer focused roles based in Melbourne, to complement the NZ team. Today, Comrad is now the largest dedicated RIS provider in New Zealand and Australia with a range of clients from large multistate radiology service providers and hospitals to smaller niche providers.
