John Guzzo founded the company in 1928 under the name General Construction. He was joined shortly after by his brother Gildo and his son Lino. The company started out as a very small outfit that specialized in sewer and sidewalk construction projects. During the Great Depression years the company kept busy doing WPA projects. The company progressively grew and expanded business during the post World War II housing boom in the late 1940's and early 1950's. In 1948 the company incorporated under the name Complete General Construction Co., Inc.
