What Is Community Housing Innovations?
Community Housing Innovations, Inc. provides housing and human services that support social and economic independence to families and individuals on Long Island and in the Hudson Valley. Since its founding in 1991, Community Housing Innovations, Inc. (CHI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency, has provided emergency, transitional and permanent housing to thousands of homeless persons and low income families and individuals. Today, CHI guides families and individuals from homelessness to home by providing emergency and transitional housing with an array of supportive services and the end goal of finding our clients permanent homes. We strive to teach our clients the life skills necessary to maintain stability and economic and social independence. CHI owns and/or manages over 350 units of permanent housing, occupied by low or moderate income families and individuals, offers supportive permanent housing and transitional housing, provides down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers, and provides counseling and support to homeowners facing foreclosure to help them successfully secure a mortgage modification.
