What Is Community Charter School of Cambridge?

Community Charter School of Cambridge (CCSC) is a public charter school. Located in Kendall Square near MIT, CCSC serves 360 students in grades 6-12. Open since 2005, CCSC provides a rigorous academic program that places all students on the path to college success. The academic program is demanding, and we have high expectations for all students. The school's small size ensures that every student is well known to and supported by a dedicated and skilled faculty. Since 2009, when CCSC graduated its first class, 100% of seniors have been admitted to college, 85% to four-year schools including Boston College, Bucknell, Cornell, Dartmouth, Denison, Hamilton, Carnegie Mellon, Wheaton, and University of Massachusetts. In December of 2015, CCSC was one of 45 schools to be commended for its performance by Massachusetts Commissioner of Education. CCSC was 1 of 14 charter schools in the U.S. to be awarded an EPIC grant for attaining the highest gains in student achievement in 2011-12. A hallmark of the CCSC program is the required Senior Internship Program, which provides students with meaningful, real-world experiences with local businesses and non-profits. Seniors have interned at Akamai, Google, the Cambridge Innovation Center, Mass. General Hospital, MIT, Northeastern University, and the American Red Cross, to name a few.
