What Is Command Medical Products?
Command was founded in 1987 by the current President and CEO, David T. Slick, Sr. As a native of Ohio, David worked in the manufacturing business and recognized a growing trend in outsourcing, particularly in the medical arena. With the idea of establishing a vertically integrated company, he headed South to Ormond Beach, Florida to start his own company to do just that. David established Command Medical Products, Inc. specifically for the manufacturing of disposable medical devices. Coupling tube extrusion and R.F. welding with assembly and packaging, Command offered a complete line of services to support many different medical product lines. All of these services were provided from the Ormond Beach, FDA registered facility. The success of this formula was evident in the need for an immediate facility expansion and recognition by Inc. 500 as one of the fastest growing privately held corporations. Throughout the years, Command has kept its focus on the medical market. In 2003, the Quality Systems were updated to meet ISO 13485 standards. Several of the facilities' cleanrooms are currently certified to ISO 14644 Class Seven clean room standards. In 2005, Command expanded again, this time with an offshore manufacturing plant located in Managua, Nicaragua. This additional facility allows for cost effective manufacturing of high volume, high labor content products. The Nicaragua Plant operates under the same quality systems as the domestic facility and is included in Command's FDA registration and is ISO 13485 certified.
