What Is Comcourse?

Comcourse, Inc. was founded in 1994 as EdgeTek Computer Education by James Chellis and Matthew Sheltz. Since that time, millions of students have read our bestselling Sybex MCSE and CCNA Study Guides, authored and produced by our CEO, James Chellis, and our CTO, Matthew Sheltz. Several titles in this series have been worldwide #1 bestsellers. Thousands of students have completed our classroom trainings, watched our videos, and used our software. In 1996, in conjunction with Cyberstate University, we presented one of the first online certification trainings, and employed novel simulation technologies. Since that time, we have continuously refined our methodologies, and now offer the most advanced training programs available in the professional network administration field. Is it possible for students to take complex courses online? The Comcourse Learning Experience is an immersive approach that has been carefully researched. While some courses you see simply take a text book and put it online, Comcourse programs are based upon a proven blend of sophisticated elements including: Realistic simulations with voice-over tutorials that provide opportunities to practice, practice, practice and turn knowledge into know-how Hybrid learning approaches that add high-bandwidth multimedia and interactive learning carried on CD's, which avoid the ‘dumbing down' many eLearning programs suffer from when delivered exclusively by the web Carefully placed quizzes, flash cards, remedial paths and final exams aimed at helping students move what they learn from short-term to long-term memory Real-world case studies that help prepare students for what they will encounter in the workplace Direct access to the Instructor and the Experts for support, including chats, forums, telephone and email Collaboration tools that enable students to create "communities of practice" Who teaches your courses? Unlike other "experts," our instructors are widely published authors and/or hold graduate degrees in IT, and all have a minimum of 10 years in IT. Much like James Chellis and Matthew Sheltz, many of our instructors are successful authors and IT consultants who have been working in this industry for many years. Will the Comcourse courses and degree programs be easy to market to my students? Our existing partners are already succeeding in marketing our courses to their students. Our first partner is on track to generate more than $2,000,000 per year in gross revenue. Our programs focus exclusively on areas where there is proven growth potential for jobs within the U.S. These programs represent the most sought-after IT training in today's market, training vital for jobs projected to increase and not get shipped offshore. In addition to our current listed courses, we have programs pending in the areas of VoIP, Network Security and Linux, all among the hottest topics in the rapidly evolving IT field. Will this course become an administrative burden for our college?
