What Is City of Platteville?

Platteville is nestled among the gently rolling hills of Southwestern Wisconsin. Surrounded by beautiful farm country, Platteville is home to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and its 8,000 students. Opportunities for business and recreation abound. Platteville has industrial sites located next to U.S. Highway 151, a 4-lane expressway that connects to major interstate highways from Cedar Rapids and Dubuque Iowa to Madison and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The city also boasts an outstanding labor force coupled with a community that enthusiastically supports local businesses and economic development. Extensive recreation and arts programs are available throughout the year. Residents and visitors enjoy our 16 city parks, which include over 200 acres of open space, art galleries and museums, playgrounds, baseball and softball diamonds, hiking trails, skate park, picnic shelters, and an outdoor aquatics center. The University presents numerous artistic and athletic endeavors for the public's enjoyment, often for free or at prices far less than in larger cities. The future of Platteville is bright with new housing developments, shopping centers and newly created job opportunities. The newly designed Main Street and Downtown redevelopment is now completed and will help revitalize this important business hub of our community.
