What Is City Of Nixa?

Welcome to the only Nixa in the world! Nixa is known as the master bedroom community and premier suburb of Springfield Missouri in the southwest corner of the state. Nixa is progressive, fast-growing, and punching above our weight. The City of Nixa is a home-rule municipal government including Police, Parks & Recreation, Planning & Development, and Public Works departments. The city operates a public-owned utility made up of the electric, water, and wastewater departments. Public Works also houses the street and recycling departments, as well as an internal vehicle maintenance shop. Our departments also encompass utility billing, building inspections, code enforcement, animal control, finance, municipal court, human resources, communications, and office of the city clerk. We are a growing agency with over 120 full time employees. Our motto is "Neighbors Committed to an Exceptional Quality of Life." The city prides itself on hiring exceptionally talented individuals from diverse backgrounds who can help us continue to stand out in innovation and progress. We prioritize communication and cherish fresh ideas as much as we do experienced practitioners. We promote from within and encourage intradepartmental transfers. We also invest heavily in training, so staff can stay at the top of their trade. In 2017, we launched an employee Think Tank which generates and develops solutions from staff representatives from each department for presentation and adoption by management and/or council. We show our compassion through Helping from the Heart, a charitable organization operated by a staff committee, and we are excited to be developing a new employee wellness program.
