What Is Circle the City?

Circle the City is a 501(3)(C) nonprofit organization that provides integrative health services to men, women and children facing homelessness. Incorporated in 2008, Circle the City is Arizona’s only Medical Respite Center providing care to people experiencing homelessness in the Phoenix metro area. Through the compassionate care of our doctors, nurses and respite assistants, we provide homeless men and women “a time and place to heal” after they discharge from local hospitals. We partner with most major hospital systems in the Phoenix area to bridge the gap between inpatient and outpatient care, ensuring that our patients have the best possible opportunity to heal physically, socially and emotionally. Our skilled case managers are dedicated to connecting each patient with important post-discharge resources, including primary care and housing, that will help break the cycle of homelessness. Circle the City has rallied federal and local funders, donors, healthcare professionals and volunteers around its mission and, as result, now offers a continuum of healthcare services that were previously unavailable to Maricopa County's homeless population. Services now include: Circle the City Medical Respite Centers providing supervised medical care for homeless adults; The Parsons Family Health Center, Downtown Family Health Center and two Mobile Outreach Clinics providing comprehensive primary care services and preventative healthcare for individuals and families journeying through homelessness, and our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team; a multi-disciplinary mental health team that conducts street outreach to some of the most seriously mentally ill people experiencing homelessness providing them with psychiatric support; nursing care; case management; substance-abuse intervention; employment support; independent-living skills; and housing assistance.
