Cholla is one of the largest private operator in Texas, with operations in several other states. Our company traces its roots back to our founder L.W. “Slim” Powell. Born in 1900, Slim dropped out of school in the 6th grade to earn a living for his family, following the death of his father. Cholla remains family owned with a focus on leveraging our venture mindset and operating capabilities to create long term value. As an active operator, Cholla has established a track record of grit, perseverance, and abstract thinking. Our team has drilled over 350 wells in the last 10 years and are always pursuing new growth opportunities in the Lower 48.
