What Is Change Research?

Change Research provides fast, affordable, and accurate polling to forward-thinking campaigns and causes across the country. Since launching in July of 2017, Change Research has conducted nearly 600 polls for candidates, campaigns, and causes at all levels and budgets. From seats in city councils and Congress, to democratic movements in rural Oklahoma and Colorado, to up-and-coming candidates in Florida and Illinois and swing states like Pennsylvania and Ohio, Change Research’s innovative and data science approach to polling provides winning insights. Change Research has had more public polls featured on FiveThirtyEight than any other pollster. On average, Change Research estimated the Democratic candidate's vote share within 2.6 points of what they actually got - an average mean absolute error that is more precise than the most accurate public pollster, The New York Times. In five out of seven general election races for which Change Research conducted public polling in 2017, Change Research was either the most accurate public pollster, or among the top three. In 2018, Change Research was the only pollster to correctly predict Andrew Gillum’s historic win in Florida’s Democratic gubernatorial primary. In a public poll conducted shortly before the election, Change Research showed Democratic candidate J.D. Scholten in a tight race against longtime GOP incumbent Steve King in IA-4, immediately leading to an influx of nearly $1 million in donations within 72 hours after the poll results were released. As a Public Benefit Corporation, Change Research takes pride in democratizing access to quality research for the record number of diverse and underrepresented candidates running for office - half of our clients are women, and a third are people of color.
