What Is Champlain Telephone Co?
The Champlain Telephone Company is an independent phone company fully committed to the communities it serves. For nearly a century CTC has provided local residential and commercial telephone service to the Villages and Towns of Altona, Champlain, Mooers, Mooers Forks and Rouses Point, New York. CTC was founded on September 24, 1903, by Maurice Knapp, Orin Southwick, and A.B. Spelling. CTC brought communications services to the towns and remote parts of its service area in Upstate New York and has continued to stay on the cutting edge of technology by bringing the latest advancements in communications to our customers in a timely manner. Originally, the company strung copper wires on locally milled poles. Throughout the years, CTC has gained expertise in providing reliable, high-quality telephone service in the harsh climate of rugged upstate New York terrain. Whether you are new to the area or a fifth generation member of the community, CTC has always been here to serve your telecommunications needs with reliable and affordable service. CTC, and our employees, take great pride in our community involvement. CTC offers local scholarships to High School students, supports various school, sport, church and special interest fundraisers. Every month a proactive customer satisfaction survey is performed by SDS to insure CTC continues to do our job of providing quality, uninterrupted local phone service to the Northern Tier. Through the monthly publication, The Exchange, CTC strives to continue to address the interests and concerns of the people in the local community - and keep us all connected! New developments in the telecommunications industry will change the way you communicate in the future. When those changes come, you can trust that CTC will be here to serve you with the knowledge and experience that has guided us through nearly a century of service. CTC is the first small, independent telephone company in New York with a I00-percent fiber-optic backbone, including a newly completed fiber-optic network between Montreal, Quebec, and Albany, New York. With more than 5,300 business and residential lines, CTC offers the products and services that customers need to survive in the information age, from phone lines and video conferencing to local and long-distance service, Internet access, phone systems, and security systems. CTC also works hard to keep area businesses up-to-date and competitive. During a time of revolutionary change in the telecommunications industry, the Champlain Telephone Company remains a strong community business.
