What Is Center for Hearing and Communication?

The League for the Hard of Hearing was founded in New York in 1910 and is the oldest and foremost hearing rehabilitation and human services agency in the world for infants, children, adults and seniors who are hard of hearing, deaf and deaf-blind, and their families. Over the years we have seen to the needs of over 1,250,000 people with hearing loss. As reported in the most recent edition of the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Guide, over 91% of monies raised by the League goes to direct services to the thousands of people seen at our headquarters and on our "state-of-the-art" mobile audiological testing vans each year. In addition, to our services, assistive listening and alerting devices provided at substantial discounts to consumers in need of financial assistance. No one is ever denied our services because of age, race, religion, ethnic background, sexual orientation or inability to pay. Our staff is also qualified to provide all of our programs and services to people who use oral communication, American Sign Language, or a wide variety of foreign languages.
