What Is Center for Applied Special Technology?
CAST, founded in 1984, is a not-for-profit educational organization based in Peabody, Massachusetts. CAST is a pioneer in the development of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), an educational approach that capitalizes on the flexibility of digital media to improve educational outcomes for all students, including those with disabilities. As part of its mission to empower individuals with disabilities through computer technology, CAST developed Bobby¸ a free Internet-based service for Web accessibility that is being used by Web developers worldwide, including major corporations and the federal government, to test Web pages for accessibility to individuals with disabilities.
