What Is Capstone Collegiate Communities?

The Capstone Companies ("Capstone") is widely considered one of the national leaders in the development and management of quality student housing and mixed-used communities on or near university campuses. Capstone's principals have experience in student housing development dating back to the mid-1980's. Capstone was formed in 1990, and since that time, has been responsible for the development of 45,000 beds of on and off-campus student housing, totaling just over $1.8 billion in project costs. In the on-campus arena, no other student housing firm has been selected to partner with as many colleges and universities to develop on-campus student housing. To date, Capstone has partnered with fifty-five colleges or universities to develop 31,000 beds of on-campus housing. We also currently provide management services for 15,000 beds of on-campus housing on 19 different campuses. Capstone offers your institution its extensive experience in turn-key developments on college and university campuses. This experience covers a wide variety of unit/building designs, construction types, financing and management models. We have developed open breezeway and enclosed corridor communities, living/learning communities and theme housing "villages." Our partnerships have achieved facilities with classroom space, dining facilities (both new and renovated), structured parking, and in one instance, a suite for the president of the university. Construction types have included protected wood frame, steel frame, concrete frame, block and plank, and facilities utilizing the Hambro system. Management structures have ranged from providing all services to our "shared governance" model, which combines the resources and talents of Capstone Development and our collegiate partner. Capstone also has unique experience in the development of Greek Housing Villages on college and university campuses, having developed four such projects to date on the campuses of Southeastern Louisiana University, Florida State University, Western Carolina University and Washington and Jefferson College (1,086 beds).
