What Is Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres?

Canadian Addiction Treatment Centres (CATC) is a healthcare organization of outpatient addiction treatment clinics, specializing in opiate agonist therapy. CATC clinics have been strategically located in geographic areas that are devoid of addiction services or, are generally under-serviced of all medical treatment facilities. In many of the communities where CATC provide services, without a CATC clinic, there would be no other treatment provider offering this compliment of services, leaving patients with no other option than to travel long distances to obtain treatment or receive no care at all. CATC has treated over 35,000 patients since our opening; and currently our 57 clinics across Ontario and 1 in Manitoba are treating over 11,000 patients. While the goal may be abstinence for some, CATC focuses on a model of harm reduction. This promotes the notion that left untreated, drug addiction causes many harmful outcomes including victimization, overdose, incarceration, relationship and financial struggles and even death. Harm reduction principles seek to engage individuals in therapy using a non-judgmental approach in an attempt to motivate individuals to a healthier life style. Our staff is highly dedicated to ensuring optimal care and great effort is made toward encouraging long term sobriety from all illicit substances. CATC has helped save the lives of many who might have otherwise become victim to untreated addiction. We are continuously encouraged by those who have attended our Centre and have climbed that often unforgiving mountain, reclaiming the life that was so ruthlessly stolen from them while in the throes of addiction. With its continued growth and expansion, CATC looks forward to offering its multi-disciplinary team approach to many communities across Canada that currently lack such treatment modalities.
