What Is California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation?

CRLAF works for social justice and equity for farm workers and the underserved in rural California through advocacy in our communities, the courts and the legislature. Our staff of attorneys, legislative advocates, and community outreach advocates provide high quality legal services at no cost; engage in public policy advocacy on issues of concern to low-income rural poor; and conduct outreach to help rural low-income residents get access to services they need. We strengthen laws and policies protecting workers’ rights and health; work to reduce agricultural work hazards and pesticide exposures faced by farm workers and rural residents; improve children’s access to quality schooling and higher education; and help disenfranchised Californians in marginalized communities secure clean, affordable and reliable drinking water, wastewater systems needed for healthy communities, and opportunities for economic viability.
