CAMAC International is the largest African-American owned energy services corporation in the United States. The corporation is engaged in both upstream and downstream activities in the exploration, production, and the physical trading of crude oil and natural gas for markets in Africa and Europe and wholesale electric power in the United States. CAMAC also provides for the delivery of financial and transportation services in the United States and South Africa. Through a host of affiliate companies, including indigenous-based companies in Africa, CAMAC owns leases to several oil and gas reserves and leases in offshore West Africa and onshore Colombia, South America. CAMAC was one of the first independent energy companies to recognize the power of West Africa's untapped small and marginally producing offshore resources, the first company to hold a deepwater license in Nigeria in 1992 and the first to make a deepwater discovery in offshore West Africa in 1995.
