What Is Buckley Oil Company?

Buckley Oil Company was founded by R.E. Buckley in Dallas, Texas, in 1922. The Company became a family owned distributor of bulk solvent and chemical products to numerous customers in Dallas and surrounding counties. Jack Buckley assumed control of the family business and relocated the growing business to 1809 Rock Island Street, Dallas, Texas in 1957 and the Company continues business at that location. Tom Buckley assumed control of the family business in the 1980's and managed the family business until November of 1993. R. E. Dodson has been active in the lubricant and solvent business in the DFW area since 1966. R. E. viewed Buckley Oil Company as an outstanding family owned business with a central location, an excellent reputation and in need of finding someone to carry on their family tradition. On November 3, 1993, R. E. Dodson acquired ownership and control of the Company. R.E. and his son, R.E. (Dodd) Dodson II, began building a solid plan for carrying the Company forward into the next century. Buckley Oil Company has expanded its horizons, continuing to serve its loyal customers, including large volume customers such as Berryman Products, Arrow Magnolia, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, Rail American, Chevron Phillips, U.S. Filter, TXU Electric, Gulfstream Aerospace, and Technical Chemical to name a few. In February 1996, Buckley Oil Company purchased TransChemical, Inc. of Wichita Falls, Texas, which had been serving the northwest Texas area for 34 years. Buckley Oil Company of Wichita Falls has 200,000 gallons of storage and has opened new marketing areas. With the volume of products purchased from a number of refineries, Buckley Oil can be competitive and still give the type of service that only a distributor can give. Buckley Oil has around the clock personnel that can be dispatched with bulk and packaged products for an emergency that may arise. Our business philosophy is that no one, from a refinery direct, to another distributor, can give any better price or service than Buckley Oil Company.
