Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC), a nationally recognized leader in urban-serving education, is one of 24 colleges within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. BMCC is the borough’s first Community College and the largest college in CUNY, enrolling approximately 27,000 students in degree programs and 12,000 more students in continuing education programs. Students represent 155 countries around the world. BMCC students obtain associate degrees in 31 fields and are instructed by over 414 full-time dedicated faculty members who must maintain a portfolio of scholarship and research. To meet the needs of its students, the College offers courses and programs online, in offsite locations, in the evenings, and on weekends. BMCC is committed to a student-centered education and advancing knowledge through scholarly research. Community College Week recently ranked the College fifth in the nation for the number of associates degrees awarded to underrepresented groups. It was also ranked #1 in awarding degrees to African-Americans in the Northeast; #2 for awarding associate degrees in business; and # 3 for awarding associate degrees in communications technology, by The U.S. Department of Education and the Institute of International Education.
