Booktopia is Australia's local bookstore. At the 2016 and 2017 Australian Book Industry Awards we were named National Book Retailer of the Year. We are the only company to be a finalist in the Telstra Business Awards 7 times from 2011 to 2018, winning the NSW Business of the Year in 2018. We ship over 5,000,000 items a year to Australian addresses. Over 4,000,000 Australian people, businesses, schools, libraries, universities and government departments have placed an order for books, DVDs, CDs, maps, eBooks, calendars and many other products, with Booktopia since our inception in 2004. Booktopia is a 100% Australian owned and operated business. We have a 13,000 square metre Headquarters and Distribution Centre in Sydney where we normally stock around 650,000 books ready to ship across 150,000 titles. Over 82% of all books ordered on our site are stocked in our Sydney warehouse. The other 18% are titles we have to order in and we source these items from publishers and suppliers across Australia as well as flying them in from the UK and USA. Our fast thinking and creative marketing team responds to the latest book trends by working closely with the Australian publishers. Booktopia offers more insight than just the book descriptions and covers by adding video book trailers, internal images, reviews, author interviews and book extracts to the Booktopia site. Booktopia is one of the fasted growing in Australia making the AFR/BRW Fast 100 8 times from 2009 to 2017 the only company who has ever achieved this feat. We started in February 2004 on a $10/day budget. We have had no external investment. Everything we have accomplished has come from selling more books and using that money to grow our business. Booktopia's philanthropic program has donated over $750K in books and cash to literacy based projects all over Australia including sponsoring Writers' Festivals, Readers Conferences, indigenous literacy, library and school fundraisers, and much more.
