Birdair is a leading specialty contractor for long-span and large custom tensile structures. Tensile architecture is a highly specialized construction approach that uses tension for support, in lieu of more traditional forms of construction like post and beam. The ability to integrate tension into the structural design allows for longer spans with minimal weight. Much of the tension provided is found in the membrane, cables, and clamping mechanisms integrated into these structures, although longer spans can also be obtained by incorporating other materials like glass, metal panels, and other architectural building envelope materials.
