What Is BirdLife Australia?

Creating a bright future for Australia's birds. BirdLife Australia is dedicated to achieving outstanding conservation results for our native birds and their habitats. BirdLife Australia is a national non-profit organisation established to protect Australia’s unique native birds and their habitats. Our vision is to improve the status and outlook for Australian birds and the places we share with them. BirdLife Australia is the Australian partner of BirdLife International, the world’s largest nature conservation partnership. As birds are near the top of the food chain, their survival and migration patterns are visible indicators of Australia's environmental health (habitat degradation, anthropogenic climate change). Monitoring and analysis of native bird data helps to inform and prioritise national, regional and local conservation policies and plans. BirdLife Australia was created in 2012 from the merger of Birds Australia and Bird Observation & Conservation Australia (BOCA). For more than 100 years these two groups have been powerful advocates for native birds – including over 200 threatened species – and their habitats. Conservation, Ornithology, Research, Education
