What Is Barasch and McGarry - Lawyers for the 9/11 Community?

Barasch McGarry Salzman & Penson is a nationally known personal injury law firm, located in New York, with lawyers who concentrate in catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases arising out of auto accidents, construction accidents, plane, train and motorcycle accidents, and any other case where a serious personal injury was caused by someone's negligence. Many of our clients are NYC firefighters who were injured in the line of duty. We also represent thousands of sick first responders and local residents who are survivors of the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks. More than a decade after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 shocked the world, many rescue and recovery personnel and Lower Manhattan workers and residents who were exposed to toxins from the World Trade Center site are still living a nightmare. Every day, Barasch McGarry Salzman & Penson observes how cancer, respiratory disorders and other disabling and deadly diseases linked to the exposure continue to devastate families. Who we help World Trade Center first responders, including: Firefighters, police officers and EMTs Construction workers Volunteers Out-of-state responders Lower Manhattan workers and residents More than $1.7 million has been awarded to date. There is still time to apply for significant compensation if you have been diagnosed with any of the 68 cancers that doctors at the WTC Health Program (WTCHP) have linked to the WTC toxic dust. The deadline to apply to the Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) is 2 years from the date that a cancer has been certified by the WTC Health Program —or any other governmental agency. The 2 year period to register doesn't start on the day of a cancer diagnosis. Rather, it starts only when a cancer survivor is made aware their cancer was linked to exposure to the WTC toxins. For those who died from their WTC-linked cancers, the 2 year period to register starts on the day of their death.
