BAG MAKERS, Inc. was founded in 1980 by Maribeth Sandford on the premise that companies didn\'t have to spend a lot. In the late \'70\'s, while working for a supply company, she recognized the need among her customers for smaller quantities, particularly in plastic bags which often had high minimums and required too much storage space in customer\'s offices. With a small family loan, Maribeth and a friend bought a press and taught themselves how to develop artwork and make printing plates. For years the company operated in a converted dairy barn in Northern Illinois where the two friends sold by day and printed by night. Their focus was to provide quality printing and fast service on lower minimums that would better meet the needs of their customers, filling a market need not currently being served
