Azim Premji University was established under the Azim Premji University Act 2010 of the Government of Karnataka. Azim Premji Foundation, the sponsoring body set up the University as a fully philanthropic and not-for-profit entity, with a clear social purpose. The University started in 2011 and since then have admitted over 2000 students. Programmes offered- (A) Postgraduate Programmes M.A. Education (2 years) -Broad based programme of study that includes theory, practice, research and planning in Education. M.A. Development (2 years) -The programme aims to prepare individuals capable of informed and thoughtful development action, aware of the complexity, depth and scope of the discourse of development, its ethical imperatives and its implications for policy and action. M.A. Public Policy & Governance (2 years) -The programme will will help students learn about the ideas, mechanisms and practices of public policy as well as the nature, quality and legitimacy of the institutions and practices of governance. M.A. Economics (2 years) -Specialisation in Development and Policy LL.M. in Law & Development (1 year) -An intensive and immersive legal education at the intersection of the domains of Law and Development in India. (B) Undergraduate Programmes Stream -1 : 3 year Degree in Science, Social Science and Humanities Stream -2 : 4 year Dual Degree in Science and Education 3 - year Degree (Majors offered) B.Sc. (Physics, Biology or Mathematics) B.A. (Economics, English, History, Philosophy) Option to pursue Honours degree through research projects. 4 year Dual Degree Science : Biology, Physics or Mathematics Education : Perspectives, Pedagogy and Field Practice A 4-year, dual-degree programme in Science and Education leading to a B.
