Astra Labs is a gen-z run 501(c)3 that builds technology with the mission of getting those in need closer to the future they deserve. Our mission is to create and use consumer facing software to help marginalized communities deal with systemic barriers. In other words, we build and use tech to help to people who need it the most but get it the least, with no strings attached. We accomplish our mission through 3 vectors: app development, education and empowerment tools. With our app development, we build and develop consumer facing mobile apps to help people overcome struggles and barriers that come with being marginalized. We work in niche areas underserved by tech, built specifically to our values and standards designed to protect our users, and are additionally built to industry-wide privacy and security standards. Through education and advocacy, we use our platforms and apps to provide information, coping methods, resources, and toolkits to our communities. We also have an online magazine dedicated to helping tech companies and their employees understand the implications of new technology in vulnerable populations through our insights and research. And finally, with empowerment tools, we provide organizations with tools to organize and fight on the behalf of marginalized communities, work with organizations to provide guidance and help companies regarding building and supporting marginalized people, and providing educational materials to make sure they make the right choices for themselves and their customers.
