What Is Arizona Youth Partnership?

AZYP’s mission is to partner with communities to cultivate healthy foundations for youth and promote strong families. As we focus our efforts on prevention, AZYP’s vision is to create a comprehensive linked set of programs that maximize the opportunities and resources we seek to bring to communities across the state of Arizona. AZYP employs a three-pronged approach to fight poverty and build healthy, self-sufficient youth and families: 1. Cultivate Healthy Foundations for Youth: AZYP offers evidence-based relationship education, afterschool, and youth leadership programs. Our programs equip youth to focus on life success goals and work to prevent teen pregnancy, alcohol and substance abuse and anti-social behaviors. Our current youth programs include the following: o Healthy Relationship Education o Afterschool programs that feature academic enrichment activities, Positive Action curriculum, and Botvin’s LifeSkills Training o Harbor House and Providence place residential/shelter prevention program for homeless youth in Mohave County o Wake UP!™ Alcohol & Drug Prevention Education Program 2. Promote Strong Families: AZYP family programs offer practical knowledge, strategies and tools to build and sustain healthy marriage, parenting, and economic self-sufficiency. Our current family programs are funded by the Arizona Parents Commission. 3. Mobilize Communities through Coalitions: AZYP assists community coalitions with resources that facilitate community-wide change focused on prevention of substance abuse and underage drinking . New Strategic Initiative: Open Doors Community School represents an opportunity to integrate AZYP’s proven prevention programs into our own small public school environment focused on academic excellence, removing barriers to learning and opening doors of opportunity for our students and their families through the Community School model.
