What Is Amerigroup D.C?
Amerigroup — which began as AMERICAID Community Care — was founded in 1994 to meet the needs of families enrolled in publicly funded health care programs.The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) estimates 560,000 Iowans are eligible for managed care services. As part of Iowa’s new Medicaid managed care program, Amerigroup will serve members in IA Health Link and Iowa Health and Wellness Plan. Amerigroup will also serve the children enrolled in the State's Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa (hawk-i) program. Additionally, Amerigroup will provide services for individuals qualifying for Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) funded substance abuse services; Long Term Services and Supports for seniors and persons with disabilities; and individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
